Rat Snake

One of the species is the Southern copperhead that is also called the Highland Moccasin, and Chunkhead The scientific name of this reptile is Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix. It is about 22-36 inches (56-91 cm) long and may be as long as 53 inches (135 cm).

The reptile has a stout body, light brown to gray crossbands, alternating with dark brown to reddish-brown crossbands. There are dark bands on the sides of the body.
