The most common Pheasants – Ring-necked Pheasants (Phasianus colchicus) are very colorful in order to attract females during the mating season. Pheasant males have a long, narrow, streaming, tapered tail, a rooster-like bill, and a spurred tarsus. Their head and neck are iridescent purplish green.
